What company advertised on Colorado TV majorly discounted windows by participating in an energy study?

I can't remember the company name and we are looking to replace our windows. The television ad said that the windows would be heavily discounted if you keep track of your energy savings.

Is recoverying the system the same as reinstalling it?
/QUOTE

No. To `recover`, whether you're talking in computer terms or just in plain English, meas to return to an earlier state.

In this context, `recover` means to restore the computer to the state it was in when it left the factory to get shipped to the store. In other words, the state it was in when you first bought it.

To reinstall your operating system, however, is to do just that, that is, to reinstall your operating system using installation media.

To reinstall your operating system, you would need a generic Windows installation disc, such as one you might find in a store.

To `recover` or `restore` your computer to factory settings, however, involves the use of a recovery partition or a restore CD or DVD given to you when you purchased the computer.

Also note that if you're selling the computer, there's no need for it to have an operating system at all. Most people format the disk when they buy a computer -- especially used ones -- and if the only reason you're reinstalling the OS is to get rid of your personal data, then you would accomplish the same thing by simply formatting the disk, thus saving you time and possibly money as well if you didn't already have a Windows installation disc.
