Is there a basic audio editor out there that I can't find?

Since apparently windows sound recorder won't work because I have over 2gb of ram, I am looking for a replacement. I only need to edit audio files (delete parts, combine more than one file, change volume) and most of the software I've seen comes with tons of extra features that I don't want. Is there a basic audio editor out there that I can't find?
